The show ended successfully!

WILC2 was a very important project for Naona and me. After immigrating to Canada we went through our transitions with WILC2. We met wonderful new friends also through WILC2. Thank you very much, our friends, including Bev Russell who supported us as a mentor in WILC2. I hope WILC will be continued or happen again.

The collaboration between my daughter, Naona, and me was less challenging. If I had worked with other professional artists, the collaborative process would have been much more complicated and I would have needed lots of energy to blend in each participant's intent. I wrote my proposal for WILC2 three weeks after our relocation from Tokyo and I didn't know any artist in Cowichan Valley yet. I naturally chose my daughter as my collaborator. Our final piece will become a memorial for our family. We feel lucky to live here. “We are found” in this community, I feel in this way.

I appreciate CVAC board and Judy for their huge support for WILC2. Judy organized many gatherings. She facilitated each group. She bound people and she led this project wonderfully. Robert and Ann were always with us and cheered up people.

How are you, Idit and Oshri? Thank you very much for the pictures, the roses and the words,“the purpose of the life is the expansion of happiness.” Working with you and other members expanded happiness in me.

Working on the layout - Stand Up And Step Out

With the end of June approaching, Gail, Shirley and I started to work on the layout for installation.  Just like making a patch quilt, we started to play with arrangements and adding extra touches such as fabric, etc.  Please feel free to contact us to make a canvas statement of Why you love Canada!

Putting it all together

As the rain falls, we are preparing our presentation of our canvas masterpieces!  Over the course of the next week, we plan to design the final layout and presentation.  Gail, Shirley and myself look forward to sharing the stories of many who stepped forward and shared with us why they call Canada their home!  We have met many people with the duration of the project and have heard many stories.  I will upload photos next week when Gail, Shirley and I meet to work on our layout!

Final corners to sew together

Hello all,
Annette and I are working with full power on three art works. It is fun! lots of communication at different time zone. Time to let question sink.

Beauety for Ashes, Annette is attaching all the photos to driftwood with. The photos turned great on the canvas and now it is the hard part. The song is allreay on an MP3 player.

The video piece- Over the ocean is almost ready. Annette recorded the song/prayer and i'm putting the sound and footage together. We do have one version but it looks like we will make a shorter one. The DVD is suppose to be mailed to CVAC early next week, so it will be possible to check it is working well ahead of time.

We are also working on two self portraits that both of us took. It is related to both the works above, but mainly to Over the Ocean. These are two 60X60cm transparent sheets that are, going to be mounted on morrows with epoxy. As usual many things can happen along the way...

Oded, my husband, will travel from here- Israel, to the Island in early June and will bring the portraits with him ready for hanging.

Hope to read your updates.

Refining the concept

Hello all,
we have been using internet, and for quite a while were glued to the laptops, breaking for a bit, and now back at it, taking reflective breaks as necessary.
We are in the process of final photo selection for Beauty for Ashes, which will be printed on canvas exactly a week from toda. Annette will be recording in early April as well for the videography loop that Idit will create for REVO EHT NAECO (Over The Ocean). For now, it's a matter of waiting for dates to draw near...and once they do, we'll have work in our hands/laptops.

We are contemplating on how to attach the canvass to the wood/dowling. We thought of eyelets and now Lace came as an option that sounds adequate.
