Yesterday we - my family and I, celebrated one year to our arrival.
Must be my lucky date: my mythological dog's birthday, a wonderful, rewarding artist celebration at Sooke Fine Arts Show. What a GREAT year.
My son Oshri, who is 9 said to me: "If we would have stayed in Canada I would have two Birthdays; one in August as always and one on July 28th, the day we arrived to the Island".
Can I add something to that?
I would like to add here my blog, where I post a photo a day, "(almost) since we arrived:

Hooray for a happy, productive, interesting and resolving WILC 2 project.
And now a bit about me:
My
family first arrived in the Cowichan Valley from Israel for my husband’s
sabbatical year in the summer of 2011.
After only a few months we felt that we could call Canada our home. For my husband and myself this was the second
time we had lived in Canada. In our
first Canadian home, Toronto, I felt welcomed and that there was a future For
me there. Presently we are scheduled to
return to Israel February 2013 and we are already planning a return visit in
the summer of 2013. We all feel torn
because both Israel and Canada are our “home” but each for different reasons.
Because
I am examining the layers that make up my feelings of “home”, much of my
artwork will be journal or diary-like. I
am very curious to see how our stay here in Canada will affect how our whole
family feels upon returning to Israel.
What will remain in our hearts? Which values we will cherish from the
richness of this welcoming, generous, safe and green place? How will our future unfold overseas as a
result of this experience?
I have already
undertaken one artistic journey dealing with my relationship with Jerusalem, the city I call home. You can read my
manifesto, and see my photos, videos, and 3-D works at: http://metropolitanjerusalem.com
